HELPING HANDS OF RAYMOND

mission & outreach at raymond community church

What I mean is this: the one who sows a small number of seeds will also reap a small crop, and the one who sows a generous amount of seeds will also reap a generous crop. Everyone should give whatever they have decided in their heart. They shouldn’t give with hesitation or because of pressure. God loves a cheerful giver. God has the power to provide you with more than enough of every kind of grace.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Every January, our Mission and Outreach Committee meets to discuss which organizations we want to support. Over the course of the year, we focus our energy offering our love, support, and care to three local organizations, each for 4-months at a time.

For example, in 2021 we spent the months of May through August supporting Racine Veteran Village of the Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin. We collected clothing items and toiletries, we provided meals, and we built a relationship with the folks who run the organization as well as the veterans themselves. This has become a passion project of one of our members in particular, and we have maintained a strong connection with the organization even beyond the four months.

From September through December, we supported a women’s resource center and shelter in Racine county that provides support, care, and housing to women and families. We brought them to our Rummage Sale and they could shop at no cost to them and take as many items with them as they would like. They filled two cars full! We also brought them warm meals and supported them with various gifts.
