“I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God;
incline your ear to me; hear my words.” ~ Psalm 17: 6 (NRSV)
Friends in Christ,
For the past six weeks we have been exploring the Biblical text through the lens of familiar hymns. Starting on Sunday, September 6th we will begin our next six-week sermon series titled, “Conversations with God”. In this series we will dive into some of our most beloved prayers to explore how they inform and are informed by our faith and the Biblical text. This series (and the next) will take us away from the lectionary texts for a bit, but fear not, we will come back to it just in time for Advent.
In preparation for this upcoming series, I have a couple of questions I would like you to ponder.
1) What is your favorite prayer?
2) What is your go-to prayer in times of struggle? Times of joy?
3) Where is your favorite place to pray?
4) Do you use any tangible prayer aids, like a rosary or set of prayer beads, a hand cross, a
stone, or even a blanket?
5) Do you take certain prayer postures when praying certain prayers?
6) When do you find yourself praying the most? When do you pray the least?
Prayer, even public prayer, is a very personal and beautiful experience we have with God. I am excited to be able to explore this side of our faith with you.
Blessings,
Pastor Lesley Buelow, MDiv
